The first two parts of this work, whose title means "Literature of the Negroes of America," offer a survey of the scene of black America followed by a literary historical survey of African American literature; the third part consists of an anthology of poetic selections, presented with the English text and facing-page Italian translations. The fourth part gives a chronology and a biographical index of authors.
