Dear Mother and Dad,
I just devoured a wonderful steak dinner, so I am at peace with the world. I worked all afternoon, so I am taking tomorrow afternoon off. Col. (ex-General) Brown just returned from Chicago where he attended a conference on the parade, and he had a lot of work to be done immediately. He conferred with the Commanding Generals of the 5th Division and 6th Service Command, General Vaughn (President Truman’s aide), Mayor Kelly, and various other War Department officials. Truman is bringing Eisenhower, Spaatz, Lutes, and the Sec. of War along with him.
The parade is to be on Michigan Ave. and will also include a number of tanks (which will no doubt tear the streets up) and planes—100 B-25’s, B-26’s and B-29s – which will fly low.
It has been very cool today. I hope it warms up. It was beautiful all week.

Nothing new on discharges. May 1 is drawing closer, however.
I attended the Ballet Theater this past week. It was an extremely enjoyable evening. Michael Kidd performed in his original ballet, the superb “On Stage.”
This week brings both the Cincinnati Symphony and the New Orleans Symphony to town. The Memphis Symphony appears next week with a two-piano team as soloist.
For something on the lighter side—and, mind you quite entertaining—“Earl Carrol’s Vanities” is coming in a couple of weeks.
I saw “The Spiral Staircase” and “Miss Susie Slagle’s” this week. The former is a real thriller. You need good nerves to sit through it. Dorothy McGuire gives a splendid performance.
It must be difficult to go over now as David Stone is having to do. The Navy is sending them over fast—V-12’s, etc., I mean.
The PX got in some Parker 5’s, but I got over too late to get one. You were going to buy one, Dad? Were you able to get it? If not, perhaps I could buy one here for you

when they get some in. The $12.50 per sells for $7.50 at the PX.
What does Bob expect to do? I hardly think he will finish school. I was surprised to learn of Chris’s being at Miami. I don’t think he will stick it out.
I don’t know any Green from the 10th. There were only 14000 men in the division. I do know a few people from other outfits beside signal.
