              <text>After the Virginia General Assembly's designation of George Mason College as a four-year degree-granting institution in March 1, 1966, a number of key studies were done by and on behalf of George Mason. Each implied greater expansion of and eventual independence from the University of Virginia for George Mason College. &#13;

The George Mason College of the University of Virginia Master Plan, detailed the infrastructure needed to accommodate a major university, while anticipating a student body of 15,000 in 1985. This document is the final published master plan completed in August 1968 by John Carl Warneke and Associates of Washington, D.C. This document contains: a Preface comprised of Intention and Scope, History of Development, and Summary of Recommendations; Regional Analysis of location, land use, and transportation; Site Analysis of the land; Space and Facilities Requirements; Master Plan Proposals for "concept", land use, and "massing and circulation", traffic, and phasing and development; Site Engineering (grading, drainage, and roads); Mechanical System Requirements (water, sewer, and other utilities); Financing; and Possible College Growth.&#13;
